How’s and do’s for studying abroad. (Merits and demerits of each course)

If you want to study in Japan, there is 3 ways.
The time, money and the type of entrance exams differs so think what do you want to achieve studying in Japan and find a way that works for you.

1. Learn Japanese in a language school, and then proceed to study in a university or technical school
2. Take the entrance exam of the school of your choice in Japan
3. Take the entrance exam in your country first, get a permit from the university and then come to Japan.

Between these 3 means, the time, the money required and the entrance exams differs, so choose a way that fit your choices.

1. Learn Japanese in a language school, and then proceed to study in a university or technical school

Get a entrance permit from the Japanese language school before coming to Japan. At this school you will learn Japanese, Japanese culture and its customs. Then you can take an entrance exam for a university or technical school.

Merits Demerits
・Learn Japanese steadily which will be your foundation in the future.
・Since you will proceed to a higher level education facility, you will be able to get specific informations.
・You will have more time and information. With that, your choices will expand.
・It will take a long time until you finish the university
・It is more expensive
・You can only learn for maximum 2 years in the language school. If you don’t get accepted into the university or technical school, you will have to return to your country.

2. Take the entrance exam of the school of your choice in Japan

After you apply for the school in your country, you will have to come to Japan according to the date of the entrance exam.

Merits Demerits
・It wont take too much time until the graduation
・It is more cheap comparing to other methods
・If you finish the admission procedure within the entrance exam residual period, it is possible to stay in Japan without having to return to your contry.
・You will need to study Japanese in your country
・In case you need to take the “Exam for studying in Japan” and the exam of the university of your choice, you will need to pay more because of the transportation and your stay.

3. Take the entrance exam in your country first, get a permit from the university and then come to Japan.

In some universities and junior colleges, it is possible for you to take the exams in your country or to get a permit with just documents reviews. This type of admission is called “Entrance permission before travelling”.

Merits Demerits
・It won’t take much time to finish the school and comparing to other methods it is more cheap
・You won’t need to come to Japan to take the exam, so you won’t spend time and too much money
・It is possible to take classes of your major right after you come to Japan.
・You will need to study Japanese in your country in order to be able to follow your classes
・There a few schools that issues the admission permit before travelling, so your choices are limited.
・It is doubtful whether you can get a lot of good information in your country.
